Otemachi, Chuo, Koto and Shinagawa: the carrier-neutral buildings and the JPIX exchange sites, including KDDI Otemachi, NTT DATA Otemachi, Toyosu and Equinix TY2.
Tokyo passed 1 GW of data center capacity in 2026. Bargun finds, contracts, builds out and manages colocation in central Tokyo’s carrier and finance buildings and in the larger campuses of Inzai, Saitama and Kanagawa, for firms entering or expanding in Japan.

The hyperscale cluster east of the city. MC Digital Realty’s campus reached 100 MW in April 2026, and Equinix TY12x offers up to 54 MW in a seismically isolated building.
West Tokyo held about 40% of Greater Tokyo’s live supply in 2024. Azure’s Japan East region is in Tokyo and Saitama.
The usual disaster-recovery pair for Tokyo, now a full cloud region in its own right.
Data centers are not interchangeable, and the differences usually show up after the contract is signed. These are the checks we run before a Tokyo shortlist.
TEPCO had about 9.5 GW of data center requests by August 2024, mostly within 50 km of Otemachi, and publishes a map of areas where it can connect power faster. New capacity takes years, so energized space is the near-term route.
Buildings differ: some are base-isolated, some built to the 1981 code, and flood elevation varies by site. We ask for each building’s seismic and flood ratings before a shortlist.
Terms are often under Japanese law with the Japanese text prevailing, and exclusive space can be treated as a building lease. We work through the terms with you and the provider before you sign.
Financial institutions follow the FISC Security Guidelines (14th edition, March 2026), and Japan’s APPI sets rules for sending personal data abroad. We check which providers support both.
JPX’s arrownet is about 3 microseconds one way from its co-location area, against about 60 microseconds through an access point, so trading firms need the right building.
Take the whole lifecycle or just the stage you need. One lead owns the schedule, the providers and the paperwork, from the first Tokyo requirement to day-two operations.
A shortlist of Tokyo facilities that fit on power, density, connectivity and price, with site tours and a side-by-side comparison.
Bids leveled and terms negotiated: price per kW, escalators, expansion rights, renewal options and the MSA.
Cabinet layouts, PDUs, structured cabling, cross-connects and access control, with every vendor coordinated until go-live.
Remote hands, capacity and invoice checks after go-live, and Portfolio Desk if you run several sites.
CBRE put the average at about US$280 per kW per month in Q1 2026. Keppel, citing industry data, gives JPY 20,500 to 30,000 per kW per month for 2024–25, up from 17,000 to 20,500 in 2021–23. Prices are rising with power costs.
Central Tokyo for exchanges, carriers and JPX co-location. Inzai for larger, newer campuses at hyperscale size. Many firms pair a central Tokyo cabinet with capacity outside the city.
Often, at least in part. Some providers’ English terms state that the Japanese version prevails and that Japanese law applies, so the review has to cover both.
Yes. Most follow the FISC Security Guidelines, and providers such as Equinix list FISC among their Tokyo certifications. We check each shortlisted building.
